From Sharon Sutton on February 18th, 2018
I'm still missing my daily chats with him. Everyday I still look for something from him, he always made my day a lot brighter. He just told me a couple of days before he passed, that he just bought a basketball game that I had when we were kids and used to bring to his house and he and I would play, of course I beat him most of the time, haha! Who am I going to kid around with now? He had such a unique sense of humor, not everyone got it, but we would always make each other laugh. And he would also give me some very wise advice on many things, he was a much deeper man than alot knew. Well, I have my memories, I have my chats with him which I am going to print out some of them, especially the funny ones, and I will always remember him as a great cousin, one who always had the time to help me, and never made me feel I was a pain, which believe me, I can be! I miss you Charles, you are in a much better place now with all your loved ones who you lost when you were way to young. I'll see you again, and you better be ready for a rematch in that basketball game. Love You.

Carey Dalton Ward

January 5th, 1950 - October 17th, 1976

Anonomous Tribute

Carey Ward was my best friend as we grew up in Greensboro, NC. We went to the same church but went to different schools. We graduated in the same year.

Carey graduated from Lucy Ragsdale High School in 1968. He then studied for a year at UNCG. From there Carey went to Guilford Technical Community College. He graduated with an Associates degree.

At the time of his death, Carey was married to the former Rachel Tilley and they had one son, Adam Ward. We all attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Groomtown Road.

Carey was the son of Minnie Sue and Albion Ward. Carey was the brother to Albion Jr., Lewis and Vernon.

Whenever Carey and I were together, there was laughter. Whenever we went to the Baptist Assembly we really had a great time.

Carey passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack. I have always wished I could have told him goodbye but I know someday, I will see him again and once again, we will laugh together in Heaven.
